Clearwater, FL – The Wagner softball team dropped a pair of games on the last day of the USF Under Armour Showcase today, falling 2-1 loss to the University of Pennsylvania this morning, followed by a 10-2 loss to the University of Maine this afternoon.
 
In the contest against Penn, sophomore third baseman Aerika High (Manheim, PA/ Manheim Central) recorded an RBI single to score freshman outfielder Laura Petri for Wagner's lone run of the game.Senior right-handed pitcher Samantha Bedker (Phoenix, AZ/Sandra Day O'Connor) delivered a solid outing on the mound this afternoon. Bedker kept Wagner in this game throughout, allowing just two earned runs, with six strikeouts and three walks in a gutsy 134-pitch outing.

In the loss to Maine, junior second baseman Taylor Beeson (Mesa,AZ/ Red Mountain) came up huge in third inning when she smacked a two-run home run over the left field fence to tie the game 2-2 which eraded a 2-0 deficit. Maine would find a way to pull away with a 5-2 lead going into the seventh inning before the Black Bears' Jessica Burk hit a grand slam in fashioning the 10-2 final score.
