Box Score Clearwater, FL – The Wagner softball team swept a pair of impressive games during the second day of the USF Under Armour Showcase, defeating the University of North Florida (UNF) 7-6 on Saturday afternoon before shutting out Big East member Georgetown 2-0.
With the victories, the Seahawks improve to 4-4 on the season.

UNF jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first innng. Wagner answered right back in the bottom of the inning when sophomore center fielder
Brianna Tredway (Downington, PA/ Downington West) launched a solo home run down the left field line to cut the deficit to one.
In the second inning, freshman left fielder
Laura Petri (Warminster, PA/ William Tennent) singled to right center followed by junior catcher
Megan Moore (Pottstown, PA/ Owen J. Roberts) getting walked. With two runners on base, sophomore third basemen Arieka High (Manheim, PA/ Manheim Central) singled to left field, scoring Petri to tie the game 2-2.
The Ospreys answered immediately putting up another run in the top of the third. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the third, sophomore right fielder
Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA/ Valley Center) laced a single down the left field line, scoring junior second baseman
Taylor Beeson (Mesa, AZ/ Red Mountain) and senior shortstop
Kelsey Parker (Lynnwood, WA/ Lynnwood), putting Wagner up 4-3.
In the top of the fourth, UNF's Lexi Taylor swung at the first pitch and put it over the fence, tying the game at 4-4. Two consecutive doubles allowed the Ospreys to take a 5-4 lead. The Seahawks knotted the game at 5-5 in the fourth inning when Beeson singled to center field, scoring Tredway.
Trailing 6-5, Wagner re-took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when junior catcher
Brenda Bott (Fountain Valley, CA/ Fountain Valley) delivered a two-run single to right center.
The Seahawks then shut down the Ospreys in the top of seventh to secure the 7-6 win.
Overall, the pitching staff recorded impressive numbers, senior
Samantha Bedker (Phoenix, AZ/ Sandra Day O'Connor) tossed the first three innings, striking out five batters. Freshman
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ/ Verrado) closed the final four innings, throwing four strikeouts and only allowing three hits and one run.

Wagner jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first, tallying the game's only two runs. Tredway got things started with a single and advanced to second on a Beeson ground out to third base. Parker then launched a double to right center, scoring Tredway. Moments later, Bott hit a single to right field to drive in Parker
Georgetown battled but it wouldn't be enough as the Green & White played strong defensive behind sophomore pitcher
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL/ Lakewood Ranch) and shut the Hoyas out in seven innings.
Goodale went the distance on the hill, twirling a nifty three-hitter on an efficient 79 pitches, with three strikeouts and no walks.
Wagner wraps up play tomorrow in the third and final day of the USF Under Armour Showcase, when they face the University of Pennsylvania at 9:00a.m., before taking on Maine at 1:30 p.m.
