With the loss, the 5-12 Seahawks fall to 0-4 in NEC play, while the 5-11 Knights even out to 2-2 in the conference.
The second game stayed scoreless throughout the first three innings until FDU's Madelaine Wilen tripled to right field, and then was hit home from an Alex Portesi RBI double to left field.
In the bottom of the fourth, senior first baseman
Beth Lewis (Ashburn, VA/ Stone Bridge) doubled to right field to drive in sophomore second baseman
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL/ Lakewood Ranch), who reached first on a fielder's' choice, to tie the game 1-1.
Senior
Samantha Bedker (Phoenix, AZ/ Sandra Day O'Connor) took the loss after throwing the first five innings in the circle with three strikeouts. Sophomore
Gina Massaro (Levittown, PA/ Conwell-Egan Catholic) came in for relief pitching the final two innings, striking out one batter and only allowing one run.
Massaro pitched her way out of a bases-loaded one out situation in the sixth inning with the help of a strong Seahawk defense.
This wouldn't be enough as the Knights picked up their second win of the day from Wilen, who delivered her second hit of the contest, a double to center field, scoring the Knight's Nicole Bellini, securing the 2-1 victory.
Lewis was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Junior catcher
Brenda Bott (Fountain Valley, CA/ Fountain Valley) and sophomore third baseman
Aerika High (Manheim, PA/ Manheim Central) each posted a hit for the Seahawks.
Wagner returns on Wednesday, April 1, to host a doubleheader against Saint Peter's Univeristy, the first game is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.
