Somerset, NJ – Freshman goalkeeper
Katie Viscardi (Hazlet, NJ/Mater Dei Prep) earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player and Rookie of the week honors, becoming the first Wagner player to earn an NEC weekly accolade this season.
Viscardi recorded a pair of clean sheets in NEC play last week against Saint Francis U and Mount St. Mary's, en route to helping the Seahawks even their conference record to 3-3. The New Jersey product notched the first shut out of her collegiate career making eight saves, five which came in the second half, during the 2-0 home win over the Red Flash.
Just two days later, Wagner left Emmitsburg, MD with a 1-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's. Viscardi made six more saves during Sunday's road win, including an impressive stop in the 62nd minute to deny the Mountaineer's game-tying attempt.
Viscardi currently leads the Seahawks with 40 saves on the season.
