Scouting the SeahawksThe Seahawks (2-11-1, 1-3 NEC) enter Friday looking to add to the win column after dropping a 3-1 decision to Robert Morris last Sunday. The Colonials took an early 2-0 lead after the first half. They sealed another goal in the 49th minute to take a 3-0 lead. Wagner junior midfielder
Taylor Sackaris (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) scored a late goal in the 73 minute to get the Seahawks on the board. Senior midfielder
Johanna Konrad (Volkach, Germany/LSH) dribbled the ball down the field and tried to make a cross in the FDU box when the Knight's goalkeeper Deanna Persico ran out to try to grab the ball. The ball deflected off Persico to Sackaris who drilled a shot to the back of the net for her first marker of the season.
Scouting the Red FlashThe Red Flash (4-10-0, 4-1 NEC) arrive to Grymes Hill after dropping their first conference game of the 2015 season in a 3-2 decision to Robert Morris last weekend. Robert Morris wasted no time in taking the lead, putting up a goal in just the second minute and then another in the 29th minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Colonials started the second half with another goal to make it 3-0.
Saint Francis U mounted a late comeback however when Casey Gallagher weaved through the defense and found Allison LaDuke on the left side who was able to get one past Colonial goalkeeper Chelsea de Jager. The Flash's Hallie Rexer was then fouled and granted a penalty shot that beat de Jager to make it 3-2 but the Colonials held on to secure the win in the final minutes of the match.
With the assist, Gallagher has recorded at least one point in each of the Red Flash's last five games. LaDuke's goal is her third marker of the season, and Rexer's goal was her first of the year.
Wagner vs. Saint Francis UThis will be the 22nd meeting between the two squads, as they have met every year since 1993. The series record sits at 19-2 in favor of the Red Flash. Last year, the Seahawks fell to Saint Francis U. in the NEC opener by a score of 1-0. LaDuke had the game's lone goal in the 66th minute, scoring on a breakaway.
