Staten Island, NY – The Wagner swimming & diving team will compete in two non-conference road meets this weekend, coming off a 150-150 tie last Saturday at the University of Rhode Island.

On Saturday,  January 24 at 1:00 p.m., the Seahawks travel to the Pratt Natatorium in Brookville, NY for a contest against LIU Post. The Pioneers returned from winter break to face Siena on Saturday, January 17, and defeated the Saints 158-126. LIU Post is now 5-2 this season and currently undefeated at home (4-0).

The following day, the Green & White face Bucknell in a meet that will be held at Columbia University at 1:00 p.m. in the first-ever meeting between the two schools in the pool. The Bison finished second overall in the Patriot League Championships last year, behind only conference-champion Army. This season, the Bucknell squad is 5-4 overall and 3-3 against Patriot League opponents.

Wagner started the New Year with a suspenseful meet against URI which resulted in the 150-150 tie. Junior Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA/Easthampton), NEC swimmer of the week ending January 18, led the Seahawks winning all three of her individual events.

Senior Samantha Sides (Cherry Hill, NJ/ Cherry Hill East) was another Seahawks headliner, winning the 50-yard freestyle by .04 of a second (25.07) while also taking third place in the 100-yard free (54.67). Following the tie, Wagner is 8-1-1 on the season.
