New Britain, CT - The Wagner men's cross country team placed eighth out of 11 teams at the 8K Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park while getting a preview of the 2014 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship course.
Central Connecticut won the team title with 34 points while Matthew Kacyon claimed the individual championship with a time of 25:50.52.
Reigning NEC Athlete of the Week senior
Jacob Malakoff (Tasmania, Australia / Hofstra) paced the Seahawks for the third-straight time to start the season, placing 24th, including 14th among league performers, with a mark of 27:58.02. Classmate
James Naglieri (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) was the next Green & White finisher, taking 41st in 28:35.20.
Freshman
Joseph Abbatiello (Fredericksburg, VA / Stafford) was 48th (28:50.86) followed by senior
Timothy Mendez (West Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) in 54th (29:07.89) with junior
Darius Moulton (Brisbane, Australia / Gregory Terrace) rounding out the scorers in 69th (30:13.61).
Wagner returns to action on Friday, October 10 at the 8K METS Championship in the Bronx.
