Jacob Malakoff (Tasmania, Australia / Hofstra) took 10th in 19:41.6 to lead the way for Wagner at the 6K Monmouth XC Kick-Off at Thompson Park.
Malakoff paced Wagner for the first time in his career to help the Seahawks finish fourth in the five-team field with 100 points. Host Monmouth won the meet with 17 points with the Hawks' Alex Leight winning the individual title with a mark of 19:09.7.
Reigning All-Northeast Conference (NEC) performer
James Naglieri (Sr., Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) finished just behind Malakoff in 18th place with a time of 20:04. Freshman
Joseph Abbatiello (Fredericksburg, VA / Stafford) placed third on the team and 25th overall (20:22.9) while turning in an impressive collegiate debut.
Senior
Timothy Mendez (West Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) was 34th (20:32.9) and junior
Darius Moulton (Brisbane, Australia / Gregory Terrace) 44th (21:35.8) to round out the scorers for the Green & White.
Wagner will not race next weekend and is next in action on Saturday, September 13 at the 8K LIU Post Invitational.
