Moon Township, NJ – The Wagner women's lacrosse team will meet Robert Morris today at 3:00 pm in the penultimate game of the regular season in a battle of teams that are tied for second place in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with identical 4-1 records, before concluding the regular season on Sunday, April 27 in a 1:00 pm game at Saint Francis U.

The Green & White, guided by first-year head coach Liz Frisoli, enter today's play with an overall mark of 8-6 while the Colonials are 10-4.

Following the Seahawks' 15-6 win over Mount St. Mary's on April 18, Wagner secured a berth in the four-team NEC Championships for the first time since 2005. The top four seeds will meet in the NEC semifinals on May 2 with the winners advancing to the May 4 NEC title game with all games to be played at the site of the No. 1 seed.

With two games remaining for each of the eight NEC schools, Bryant is currently in the driver's seat to clinch the regular season title with a perfect 5-0 record.  Wagner and Robert Morris are tied for second place with identical 4-1 records. Bryant, RMU and Wagner have all clinched spots in the tournament while Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart, who are tied for fourth at 2-3, are vying the fourth and final berth.

In the aftermath of last week's clinching victory over the Mount, the Seahawks earned a clean sweep of the conference's weekly honors as freshman Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) took home both the Player and Rookie of the Week Awards ,while sophomore Shea Gegan (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

For Streilein and Gegan, it marked the second consecutive week that each has been named NEC Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Streilein becomes the first Wagner player to earn Player of the Week honors. The Seahawks, who have now won six weekly NEC honors, are now the only team to have swept all three weekly awards in the same week. Wagner and Bryant are tied for the most 2014 weekly award winners with six apiece.

Streilein scored a career-high five goals and dished out two assists, giving her a career-high seven points, to help lead Wagner to a 15-6 win over Mount St. Mary's on April 19. After scoring two of Wagner's four first-half goals in a game that was tied 4-4 at the half, the midfielder added two more goals during a pivotal 6-0 run to start the second half that keyed the victory. Streilein's five goals came on 83% marksmanship as she sank five of the six shots that she attempted.

Gegan was at her stat column-filling best in helping guide Wagner to the victory over the Mount. In addition to distributing a career-high four assists vs. the Mountaineers, the athletic, 5-10 Gegan who ranks No. 1 in the nation at 3.64 caused turnovers per game, came up with six caused turnovers, to go with five ground balls and one draw control. In addition to leading the Seahawks in caused turnovers, Gegan tops the team in points (39), assists (17), ground balls (47) and draw controls (27), while ranking second in goals with 22.

Gegan has now set the school record for caused turnovers in two consecutive seasons. En route to earning 2013 NEC All-Rookie honors, Gegan registered 42 caused turnovers. With two regular season games, and at least one NEC Tournament game, remaining this season, Gegan has already bettered that mark with 50 caused turnovers to her credit, giving her a school-record 92 caused turnovers…and counting.
