Rock Hill, SC – The Wagner softball team dropped a 10-4 decision to Furman in the day's first game before falling to host Winthrop in the nightcap by a 3-0 count as the Seahawks' season record fell to 2-5.

Samantha Bedker, and her counterpart on the mound, Alex Sappington, did not allow a single hit throughout the first inning. In the top of the second, Furman's plated three runs to take an early 3-0 lead.
The Paladins added add another three runs in the top of the third to increase their lead to 6-0 before Wagner was able to answer.
Kristen Matteoni reached first on a fielder's choice, before
Taylor Beeson's shot to right-centerfield allowed Matteoni to advance to third. As her teammate rounded the bases, Beeson advanced to second on the throw.
With runners on both second and third,
Kelsey Parker sent the ball soaring up the middle for an RBI single, welcoming Matteoni and Beeson home and closing the deficit to 3-2.
In the top of the fourth,
Gina Massaro replaced Bedker on the hil. With Wagner trailing 7-2 In the bottom of the sixth, the Seahawks scored twice to draw within three runs as
Abigail Beasley reached on a walk, which was followed by a two-run home run by
Megan Moore that brought the score to 7-4.
Furman's offense exploded during the top of the seventh, as the Paladins tacked on three runs.to fashion the final score at 10-4.

The Seahawks received a tremendous outing on the mound by u
McKaleigh Goodale and played solid defense throughout but their bats never came alive as Winthrop went on to post a 3-0 win.
McKaleigh pitched the entire game for Wagner, facing 26 batters while allowing just eight hits.
The Eagles broke a scoreless tie the bottom of the fourth to go on top 1-0 added ewo more in the sixth en route to the 3-0 victory,
The Green & White are next in action tomorrow, March 2, when they face Gardner-Webb in a 12:00 pm game.
