ResultsPictured Above: Sophomore Anu Nihipali (Photo by Dave Saffran)New Rochelle, NY – The Wagner women's swimming team swept its quad meet held at Iona College today defeating St. Francis Brooklyn by a score of 129-69, Sacred Heart 131-62, and Iona 121-80.
Freshman
Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI / Kealakene ) won her first-ever collegiate event, the 200 yard freestyle, in a time of 1:59.60. She then followed that performance with her second career win in the 200 yard butterfly by recording a time of 2:11.86. Sophomore
Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy) continued her dominant form by winning the 50 and 100 yard freestyle with times of 24.67 and 54.24, respectively.
Junior
Kara Lacoste (Chicopee, MA / Chicopee Comprehensive) took first in the 200 yard backstroke by recording a time of 2:11.26 while junior
Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA / Easthampton) followed up her
stellar performance at Vermont by winning the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:13.53. Freshman
Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA / Henderson) rounded out the individual wins for the Seahawks, recording a time of 5:10.6 in winning the 500 yard freestyle.
The Wagner 400 medley relay team consisting of junior
Erin Malone (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township), sophomore
Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), senior
Samantha Sides (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill East), and freshman
Kristine Sullivan (Overland Park, KS / Notre Dame de Sion,) claimed first place with a time of 4:00.96. The Green & White also won the 400 yard freestyle relay by notching a time of 3:39.80; the team was comprised of McNichol, Nihipali, Sides, Sullivan.
The Seahawks will return to action on Friday, October 31 when they travel to Piscataway, NJ to take on the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers in a meet that begins at 4:00 p.m.
