En route to the victory, the Seahawks set three Bryant pool records. Individually, sophomore
Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy) set the pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.27, while freshman
Maggie Slocomb (Landenburg, PA / St. Marks) broke the 200 breaststroke pool record when she posted a time of 2:25.03.
The 200 medley relay team broke the third Bryant pool record when Nihipali, sophomore
Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), junior
Michele Detka (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado (University of Houston), and senior
Samantha Sides (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill East) posted a time of 1:47.24 in the event.
Four Seahawk freshmen notched victories in first collegiate event. Slocomb did so when she set the pool record in the 200 breaststroke and also won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:07.43 in the event. Freshman
Kristy Hessing (Bloomington, IL / Normal Community) won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:16.28.
Next up was freshmen
Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA / Henderson), who posted a time of 1:55.90 in the 200 Freestyle. The final freshman to produce her first collegiate win was
Kristine Sullivan (Overland Park, KS / Notre Dame de Sion) who won the 200 IM in a time of 2:13.15.
Junior
Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA / Easthampton) was dominant today by winning the 1000 Freestyle in a time of 10:39.24, and the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:07.44.
Nihipali also won the 100 Freestyle in a time of 52.92. Sides added to the group effort by winning two individual events, the 100 Butterfly and the 50 Freestyle, with times of 1:00.02 and 24.98, respectively.
The Green & White return to the pool on Saturday, October 11 when they head to the University of Vermont to meet the Catamounts in a 12:00 pm start.
