Emmittsburg, MD – The Wagner women's basketball team is looking for its second straight Northeast Conference (NEC) victory when the Seahawks travel to Mount St. Mary's to meet the Mountaineers in a 4:30 pm tip-off on Saturday at Knott Arena.

The Seahawks are hoping to carry the momentum gained in a solid 79-70 win over Sacred Heart last time out on January 13, an effort that was buoyed by a career-high 28-point outing by point guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum). The league's leading scoring freshman at 13.8 per game, Nwajei also dished out a career-high nine assists vs. the Pioneers. In averaging 23.0 points in Wagner's two games last week, the 5-8 Nwajei copped her second NEC Rookie of the Week honor on Tuesday.

Nwajei forms one half of a potent backcourt combination along with sophomore shooting guard Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights). The 5-6, lefty-shooting Peck hit for 21 in the win over Sacred Heart and enters Saturday's play ranked No. 2 in the NEC in scoring (18.8), No. 2 in three-point field goals made (2.73), No. 4 in free throw shooting percentage (.838), and No. 7 in three-point shooting percentage (.376).

Redshirt sophomore Ugo Nwaigwe (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream), who entered the January Sacred Heart game ranked 11th nationally and No. 1 in the NEC at 3.00 blocks per game, added four more swats vs. the Pioneers to up her season average to 3.07. This outing brought her career total to 62, which ties for eighth on the Wagner all-time list with Rachel Carman (1990-1994). The 6-3 center also averages 6.3 points and a team-best 6.6 rebounds per contest.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Lisa Cermignano, the Seahawks feature an 11-person roster, comprised of nine players who are in their first or second seasons of eligibility along with two seniors.

The matchup with the Mount kicks off a stretch of four consecutive road games for Wagner. The Seahawks complete this weekend's two-game swing with a 2:30 pm Martin Luther King Day matinee  at Robert Morris on Monday, January 20.

After returning to campus with spring semester classes beginning on Tuesday, the Seahawks then hit the road once again, meeting Sacred Heart in Fairfield, CT on Saturday, January 25 before making the short trek across the Verrazano Bridge to face St. Francis Brooklyn in a 7:00 pm matchup with the Terriers on Monday, January 27.

While Wagner kicks off the first of four straight road games at Mount, the Mountaineers will be concluding a four-game homestand vs. the Seahawks. Jacqueline Brewer has emerged as one of the Mount's top offensive threats with back-to-back 21-point games. On January 13 last time out, the Mount recorded a thrilling 85-79 double-overtime win over NEC-leading St. Francis Brooklyn.

In the win, the Mountaineers tied a program record with 13 made three-pointers, five of which came courtesy of Jessie Kaufman off the bench. The senior forward scored a season-high 19 points and led the Mount with eight rebounds. Jacqueline Brewer notched 21 points for the second game in a row. Sydney Henderson, a Preseason All-NEC selection and the league's No. 4 scorer at 18.0 points per game, added 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals.

NOTES

Most Points Scored in Five Seasons, Highest Output in NEC Game Since 2003
The 79 points scored by Wagner vs. Sacred Heart on Monday were the most by the Seahawks in five seasons. The last time the Green & White scored 79 points or more in a game was back on November 18, 2008 when the Seahawks posted an 82-73 home win over NJIT. To find the last time Wagner scored 79 points in an NEC game, one has to go all the way back to January 24, 2003 when the Seahawks posted a 79-66 home win over St. Francis (NY).

Over 70 For Fifth Time
Wagner's 79-point output vs. Sacred Heart marked the fifth time this season that the Seahawks have annexed the 70-point plateau. In 29 games last season, Wagner topped the 70-point mark on one occasion, that coming in a 74-70 win at LIU Brooklyn on January 14, 2013.

Margin of Victory
The nine-point win represents Wagner's largest margin of victory since November 14, 2012 when the Seahawks posted a 14-point (61-47) win at Columbia. The margin of victory is Wagner's largest in an NEC game since February 12, 2011 when the Seahawks earned a 10-point (74-64) win over Mount St. Mary's.

Seahawks Tie Last Season's Win Total
In notching their third win of the season, Wagner tied its win total from a year ago when the Seahawks went 3-26.

Peck Cracks Wagner Top 10 In 3-Pointers Made
In less than two seasons as a Seahawks (44 games), Jordyn Peck has already ascended into the Wagner all-time top 10 in career three-pointers made. The 2012-2013 All-NEC Rookie Team performer has drained 81 career treys, which places her in 10th-place all-time, seven behind Kim McGhee (1999-2003) who made 88 three-pointers. In addition, Peck has already surpassed the total of three-pointers that she made all of last season. Peck has hit 41-of-109 (.376) treys this season. As a freshman last season, Peck hit 40-of-140 (.286) from beyond the arc.

Ugo Up to 8th in Career Blocks
Redshirt sophomore Ugo Nwaigwe (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream), who entered the January 13 Sacred Heart game ranked 11th nationally and No. 1 in the NEC at 3.00 blocks per game, added four more swats vs. the Pioneers. This outing brought her career total to 62, which places her eighth on the Wagner all-time list, just behind Rachel Carman (1990-1994) who had 69 career blocks.
