Holmdel, NJ - Junior
James Naglieri (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) paced the Wagner men's cross country team for the second-straight meet to start the year at the 19th annual 8K Monmouth Invitational. After finishing second at the Monmouth Kickoff, Naglieri crossed the line third at Holmdel Park with a mark of 26:39.38.
As a team the Seahawks placed fourth with 101 points as Monmouth captured the team title with 41 points. Rider's Anthony Dentino won the individual crown with a mark of 26:05.72.
Finishing second for the Green & White and 18th overall was
Jacob Malakoff (Tasmania, Australia / Friends / Hofstra) with a time of 28:14.47.
Crossing the line just behind Malakoff was senior
Dan Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea), who was competing for the first time this year, in 24th (28:32.46).
Rounding out the scorers for Wagner was senior
Michael Baio (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) and sophomore
Darius Moulton (Brisbane, Australia / Gregory Terrace) in 36th (30:23.06) and 47th (33:50.75) place, respectively.
"We are getting healthier and this week was a good step forward for us in our preparation for the NEC meet," said head coach
Joe Stasi.
The Seahawks will next get a glimpse of the NEC Championship course when they travel to Saint Francis U for the 8K Father Bede Invitational on Saturday, September 28.
