Frank Melos Passes Away: Hall of Famer, Star RB on Undefeated 1960 Team

Obituary

Lancaster, PA – Frank Melos, star running back on the undefeated 1960 team and a member of Wagner's first full Hall of Fame Class in 1991, passed away on June 9 at the age of 72.

A resident of Manheim Township, PA, Melos was born in Union City, NJ and lived for 30 years in the South Jersey township of Marlton. Having recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with his loving wife Eleanor, Melos was self-employed as a manufacturer's representative for more than 40 years and was long known for his integrity and work ethic.

In Marlton, Melos was the past Grand Knight at St. Joan of Arc Church and a 4th Degree Knight and was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

His 1991 Hall of Fame biography detailed how "when a touchdown was needed, and the goal line was in sight, Melos was not to be denied. He amassed 232 career points and was also an old school two-way player, seeing time as a cornerback on a stingy defensive unit."

The 1962 Wagner graduate was a multi-sport athlete for the Seahawks, where he was also the starting catcher on the Seahawk baseball team.

In addition to his wife, Melos is survived by his son, Glenn, daughter, Laurie and four grandchildren.
