Seahawks Defeated By Boston University

Box Score Clearwater, FL – The Wagner College softball team fell to Boston University, 10-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. In the defeat, the Seahawks fall to 0-7, while the Terriers improve to 5-8.

The Seahawks grabbed the game's first run in the second inning, as freshman Megan Moore (Pottstown, PA/ Owen J. Roberts) doubled with one out for her first collegiate hit. After Moore moved over to third on a ground out, sophomore Beth Lewis (Ashburn, VA/ Stone Bridge) drove her in for the game's first run.

BU then pulled ahead with three runs each in the second and third innings, before extending the lead to 8-1 with single runs in the fourth and fifth frame.

Wagner started off the sixth inning with a pair of hits, beginning with a single by freshman Brenda Bott (Fountain Valley, CA/ Fountain Valley). Bott advanced to second on an error, setting up junior Hayley Sullivan (Bakersfield, CA/ North). Sullivan singled to right, driving in Bott to cut the deficit to 8-2.

That would be the closest Wagner made it, as the Terriers tallied two more in the bottom of the frame for the 10-2, six-inning victory.

Sophomore Olivia Zwick (Surrey, British Columbia/ Earl Marriott) made the start for Wagner, pitching in four of the five-plus innings and being charged with the loss. Sophomore Samantha Bedker (Phoenix, AZ/ Sandra Day O' Connor) pitched one inning, entering in relief in the third inning before Zwick reentered in the fourth.

The Seahawks return to action at 4:45 pm Saturday in Clearwater vs. the host Bulls of USF.
