Box Score Clearwater, FL – The Wagner College softball team was defeated by South Florida, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. In the defeat, the Seahawks fall to 0-8, while the Bulls improve to 14-10.
Freshman
Brenda Bott (Fountain Valley, CA/ Fountain Valley) tallied a pair of hits for the Seahawks, marking the first multi-hit game of her career. Bott led off the game with a single before driving a single to center in the third inning.
The Seahawks escaped trouble in the fourth inning when junior
Kristen Matteoni (Reno, NV/ Galena) made a ranging play on a line drive, flipping to sophomore
Kelsey Parker (Lynnwood, WA/ Lynnwood) for an inning-ending double play.
Senior
Judy Betz (Ashburn, VA/ Broad Run) went the distance for the Seahawks, falling to 0-4 on the season. Betz held the Bulls to no runs on two hits over her final three innings of work.
Wagner returns to action on Sunday for its final game at the USF Under Armour Showcase. The Seahawks will face Toledo of the MAC at 9:00 am.
