Women’s Lacrosse Goes For Third Straight Win at Liberty Today

The Wagner College women's lacrosse teams goes after its third consecutive win when the Seahawks meet Liberty University in a 2:00 pm start on Sunday afternoon.

The Seahawks enter today's contest with a 4-1 record, the program's best five-game start since the 2001 team opened with a 5-0 mark. The Flames should prove to be a stern test for Wagner, entering the contest with a 3-2 record and also in search of their third straight victory.

Sophomore attacker Jessica Mills (Vernon, NJ/ Vernon Township) the Seahawks' team-leader in points with 27, on 11 goals and a team-best 16 assists. Freshman Casey McCarthy (Cypress, TX/ Cy-Fair), meanwhile is quickly making a name for herself with a team-high 12 goals, along with two assists, which give her 14 points, good for second on the team.

Senior attacker Annie O'Connor (Syracuse, NY/ Westhill), who has only seen action in three of Wagner's five games, is up to 12 points on 10 goals and two assists while freshman Taylor Pastore (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) is the fourth Seahawk in double-digit scoring as she has 10 points, which have come on eight goals and two assists.

The Seahawks have had two Northeast Conference Players of the week in the young season. Mills earned this award on February 17 after tallying six goals and assisting on three others in the previous day's 21-2 season-opening victory over Delaware St. on March 2, senior attacker Annie O'Connor (Syracuse, NY/ Westhill) earned NEC Player of the Week distinction after blasting home five goals while adding an assist in carrying the Seahawks to 12-9 win over Siena.
