Kingston, RI - Sophomore
Mallory Lee (Newark, CA/ Moreau Catholic) took first place on both boards, and freshman
Kara Lacoste (Chicopee, MA/ Chicopee Comprehensive) won two events, but the Wagner College swimming & diving team fell at Rhode Island, 167.5-132.5, on Saturday at the university's Kingston campus.
Lee made a triumphant return to the boards on Saturday, winning the 1-meter board with a score of 210.45. On the 3-meter board, Lee recorded a score of 207.08 to sweep the afternoon. Freshman
Erica Curry (Fountain Valley, CA/ Fountain Valley) finished second to Lee on the 3-meter board (197.39), while placing third on the 1-meter board (191.10).
Lacoste's first win of the afternoon came in the 200 back, as her time of 2:08.83 won the event by over 3 1/2 seconds. The Western Massachusetts native took her second event of the day in the 200 IM, as her time of 2:11.91 narrowly edged senior
Tatum Colitz (Wyomissing, PA/ Wilson). Lacoste also finished third in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:09.37.
Freshman
Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA/ Easthampton) finished first in the 200 fly, as her time of 2:08.11 edged Colitz by 0.71 seconds.
The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, Feb.2, when the Green & White travel to New Britain, CT to face Central Connecticut.
