Riverdale, NY – The Wagner College women's soccer team held Manhattan scoreless for the first 90 minutes of play, but fell in overtime, 1-0, on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 3-5, while the Jaspers improve to 3-3.
The game's lone goal came three minutes into the first overtime period, as the Manhattan's Martine Diamond headed a ball from Aislin McIlvenny into the net for the game-winner. It was only the fifth shot on goal for the Jaspers in the match, with Green & White sophomore
Lisa Capelli (Manalapan, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic) stopping the previous four.
Wagner put seven shots on goal in the match, all being turned aside. Kara Davis stopped three Seahawks shots in the first half before being replaced by Kristen Skonieczny, who made four saves in the second half.
Wagner returns to action on Sunday, September 16, when the Green & White travel to Easton, PA for a 1:00 pm matchj against Lafayette in the Seahawks' final non-conference match of 2012.
