Somerset, NJ - Emily Pereira (Fr., Howell, NJ / Freehold Township) and the 3200 meter relay team, consisting of
Samantha Lauro (So., Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa),
Alexis Bivona (So., Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa),
Kelly Pereira (Howell, NJ / Freehold Township) and
Emily Pereira, were each named to the 2012 All-Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Women's All-Conference Second Team as announced by the league office.
Emily Pereira led the Seahawks with a team-best 11.5 points at the 2012 NEC Outdoor Women's Track & Field Championship, highlighted by taking second in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:14.68 for her first conference accolade. She then clinched the Green & White's second All-NEC Second Team citation by running the anchor leg of of 3200 meter relay, as Wagner placed second with a time of 9:18.62, outdistancing Quinnipiac by just over a second. Lauro began the relay, before passing the baton to Bivona.
Kelly Pereira then ran the third leg, before the aforementioned
Emily Pereira capped the race.
Also garnering a spot on the 2012 NEC Outdoor Women's All-Rookie Team was
Emily Pereira, who narrowly missed a third conference award as she ran a leg of the Seahawks' 1600 meter relay team that placed third.
Nicole Cooper (Fr., Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Township) joined Pereira on the All-Rookie Team, leaping 35-8 in the triple jump.
On the men's side freshman
Dante Fernandez (Newark, NJ / Central) was named to the All-Rookie Team thanks to placing fourth with a time of 55.16 in 400 meter hurdles.
