Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Mount St. Mary’s On Sunday At 1:00 PM In An NEC Senior Day Showdown

The Wagner College women's lacrosse team plays its final home game of the 2012 season on Sunday vs. Mount St. Mary's and for the six Seahawk seniors, it will mark the final home game of their careers.

These six seniors have played in a combined to play in 339 games, score 278 goals, dish out 101 assists, collect 501 ground balls and win 326 draw controls. The 2012 Seahawks are 6-8 on the season with the six wins marking the most by the program since the 2005 season.

 In addition to acquiring these many statistics, these half-dozen student-athletes have accumulated four years worth of knowledge, friendships, lasting memories, life lessons and wisdom gained. All told, the six Seahawk seniors have combined 14 appearances on the NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll with each of the six earning a place on the honor roll at least once during their Seahawk careers.

Defender Chanel Briggins (Freeport, NY/ Freeport) has played in 46 games during her Seahawk career, has scooped up 57 ground balls, caused 26 turnovers and won 10 draw controls despite missing the entire 2010 season due to injury. An Art Administration major, she has been a member of the NEC Spring Honor Roll in 2010 and 2011.

Carolyn Clark (Syracuse, NY/ Westhill), a midfielder for nearly three full seasons before being shifted to attack towards the end of the 2011 season, will go down as one of the finest performers in Seahawk history. Her seven-goal game vs. Monmouth on Friday was one shy of the school record and gives her 45 goals for the season, which fourth on the Wagner single-season list. For her career, she is ranked third all-time in goals with 141, fourth in points with 165 while her 102 draw controls rank seventh. A team captain and an International Business & Marketing major, Clark has been a member of the NEC Spring Honor Roll in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Melanie Garces (San Diego,  CA/ Westview) has amassed 91 career points on 72 goals and 19 assists. This diminutive dynamo has also collected 104 ground balls while gaining 93 draw controls, a figure that ranks ninth on the Wagner all-time list. A marketing & management major, Garces earned a spot on the NEC Spring Honor Roll in 2011.

Defender Casey Lindine (Easton, CT/ Joel Barlow) has seen action in 44 games for the Green & White. A tenacious and productive performer, she has collected 41 ground balls during her Seahawk career, has been credited with 26 caused turnovers and while winning 10 draw controls. A business major with an emphasis in education and sociology, Lindine was a member of the NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2010 and 2011.

Denieda McCullough was a defender for most of her Wagner career before embracing her role in the midfield during the 2012 season where she has scored 13 points on 12 goals and one assist, while scooping up 18 ground balls, winning draw controls while being credited with 12 caused turnovers. For her career, this team captain has played in 62 games, scoring 17 goals, collecting 102 ground balls while causing 64 turnovers. An accounting major, McCullough has been a member of the NEC Spring Honor Roll in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Lauren Petrik (Baldwinsville, NY/ C.W. Baker) has been a model of consistency and production throughout her four years wearing the Green & White. Her 24 assists in 2011 established a Wagner single-season record while her 22 assists so far this season ranked her second on the all-time single-season list. For her career, she is third all-time with 52 assists. Petrik has also accumulated 109 ground balls and 67 draw controls while her 50 caused turnovers rank 10th on the Seahawk all-time list. This business marketing major has been a member of the NEC Spring Honor Roll in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
