Jacksonville, FL - Jacksonville scored seven two-out runs en route to a 10-0 victory over Wagner in the first of a three-game series at Sessions Stadium.
The Dolphins improve to 6-7 with their fourth win in five games while the Seahawks fall to 1-9. The teams will resume play on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
Jacksonville quickly struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Jake Huxtable solo home run and a Jonathon Murphy RBI ground out.
After stranding a runner at third to end the frame, junior RHP
Dakota Dvorak (Pompano Beach, FL / North Broward Prep) settled down and recorded a 1-2-3 frame in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third inning, sophomore
Ian Miller (Downington, PA / Bishop Shanahan) reached base safely for the second time after drawing a two-out walk. Miller then stole second but would be stranded in scoring position.
In the bottom part of the frame, the Dolphins added to the lead with a pair of two-out hits that yielded four runs while extending the lead to 6-0.
Jacksonville added two more runs in the fourth and sixth innings to cap the scoring..
The Green & White offense recorded eight hits on the night but was unable to plate a run for the second-straight game.
Wagner was led by graduate student
Bill Murphy (Cranford, NJ / Roselle Catholic (Rutgers)), who went 3-for-4 with a double, while Miller was 2-for-3 with a double, walk and stolen base.
Adam Brett Walker (3-for-3, 3 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Dan Gulbrantson (3-for-4, 3 runs) paced the JU effort, recording six of the Dolphins' 12 hits.
Picking up the win for Jacksonville was RHP Chris Anderson (1-0), who struck out five with five hits and three walks over 7.0 shutout innings. Dvorak (0-3) suffered the loss, yielding eight runs over 3.2 innings.
