Cross Country Concludes Season At NCAA Regional Championships

The Wagner men's and women's cross country teams concluded their seasons at the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships at Hammonassett State Park.

Competing in the 10K event, junior Dan Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) capped an outstanding campaign by placing 71st with a team-best mark of 31:53.0. Zaccariello was the fourth Northeast Conference (NEC) finisher on the afternoon and had an impressive junior campaign, highlighted by a pair of NEC Athlete of the Week honors and his first All-Conference accolade.

Also competing for the Seahawks was sophomore Jacob Malakoff (Tasmania, Australia / Friends / Hofstra), who finished 108th in 32:36.5.

Leading the women in the 6K meet was junior Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa), who placed 148th with a time of 22:47.7. The finish caps an outstanding season for Bivona, which included two NEC Athlete of the Week citations.

Rounding out the performers for the Wagner women was senior Kelly Dennis (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa), who capped her collegiate cross country career by finishing 215th (23:56.8).

The men and women's indoor track & field teams open up their season on Saturday, December 1 at the Monmouth Invitational.
