Wagner Defeated By Bryant

The Wagner College women's swimming & diving team fell to Bryant, 151-111 in a Northeast Conference meet on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks fall to 0-3 in dual meets in the defeat.

Wagner took first in three events on the afternoon, as three different Seahawk swimmers captured an event win. Freshman Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA/ Easthampton) set a pool record while taking first place in the 200 butterfly, finishing in a time of 2:07.57. It was the second consecutive week Lucia won the event, as she bested her time from last week by over two seconds.

Junior Alexandra Cooney (Port Jervis, NY/ Minisink Valley) won a freestyle event for the third straight week. After winning the 500 the past two weeks, Cooney won the 1000 on Saturday in a time of 10:42.79.

For the second time in three weeks, freshman Kara Lacoste (Chicopee, MA/ Chicopee Comprehensive) won the 200 IM. Her time of 2:11.76 was an improvement of over 2.5 seconds from her win at LIU Post on Oct. 6. Lacoste finished second in the 200 breaststroke, as her time of 2:27.94 was under the previous pool record.

The Seahawks return to action on Friday, Oct. 26, when the Green & White travel to Piscataway, NJ to take on Rutgers.
