Jacksonville Defeats Wagner 9-0 In Game Two

Jacksonville defeated Wagner 9-0 en route to garnering a weekend sweep of the teams' three-game series. The Dolphins improve to 9-3 with the victory while the Seahawks fall to 1-6.

The Green & White recorded just seven hits while being shut out for the first time all season. Jacksonville, meanwhile, jumped in front with a run in the bottom of the second inning and led just 4-0 after six innings before putting the game away with two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth.

Junior Hayden Hunter (Santa Monica, CA / Notre Dame) led the way for Wagner, going 2-for-3 with a double while senior Seth Boyd (Perth Amboy, NJ / Perth Amboy) also recorded a pair of hits.

Senior RHP Jon Lucas (Hackettstown, NJ / Hackettstown) fell to 0-2 on the year, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out three and walking two over 5.0 solid innings.

The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the second on Chris Connelly's RBI ground out before pushing their lead out to 3-0 in the third on a Jonathan Murphy RBI single and a Daniel Gulbransen sacrifice fly.

Jacksonville added another run in the fourth before plating two in the seventh and three in the eighth while providing the final 9-0 tally..

Senior Chris Kaminski (2-2) got the win, scattering six hits while walking one and striking out six in 5.2 innings. Murphy paced a 14-hit Dolphin attack, going 3-for-5 with three runs.

Wagner returns to action at North Florida on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:00 pm.
