New Rochelle, NY – The Wagner College women's swimming and diving team stayed perfect in the 2011-2012 season, competing in a quad meet in New Rochelle, NY, today, beating Iona 159.00-84.00, Sacred Heart 186.00-530.00, and St. Francis (NY) 211.00-25.00. The Seahawks stay unbeaten at 5-0 in dual competition, holding 4-0 mark against Northeast Conference (NEC) competition.

The Seahawks' relay team got things started for the Wagner swim team, as the group of Breanne Sweeney (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy), Kelsey Thomas (Hammonton, NJ / Holy Spirit), Meredith Ketchmark (Plainsboro, NJ / West Windsor-Plainsboro), and Sarah Menendez (Land O'Lakes, FL / Wharton) took gold in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:04.45.

Two of Wagner's distance specialists, Alexandra Cooney (Port Jervis, NY / Minisink Valley) and Kristiana Kalibat (Princeton, NJ / Princeton High), took the top two spots in the day's longest event, the 1000 freestyle, with Cooney finishing first in 10:40.89 and Kalibat coming in second place with a time of 10:45.99.

Ketchmark and Menendez found their way back to the podium in the 200 freestlye, with Ketchmark taking gold in 1:58.60, edging out her teammate by just .34 seconds, as Menendez finished second with a time of 1:58.94.

A pair of Wagner newcomers took the top spots in the 50 freestlye sprint, as Samantha Sides (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill East) ousted classmate Lynn Tay (Elk Grove, CA / Bradshaw Christian) by .01 seconds, winning the event in 25.32.

Fellow first-year Morgan Stoner (Greensburg, PA / Hempfield Area Senior) earned herself another gold in the 200 individual medley, beating out Thomas for first place in a time of 2:16.13. Thomas took second place points with a time of 2:16.18.

The tandem of Ketchmark and Menendez were at it again in the 100 freestyle, with Menendez taking the top spot this time in 54:70, while Ketchmark finished .3 seconds behind to earn second place.

Sweeney and Kalibat finished one-two in the 200 backstroke, with the Wagner captain taking gold in 2:11.77, while Kalibat finished heat in 2:13.84.

Cooney, the NEC's reigning swimmer of the week, continued her hot streak, capturing her second gold of the day, taking the 500 freestlye in 5:16.60, while Stoner came in second place in a time of 5:20.45.

The Seahawks' 400 freestlye relay team wrapped up the day with the team's ninth gold medal, as Cooney, Kalibat, Sides, and Tatum Colitz (Wyomissing, PA / Wilson) took the top time in 3:47.35.

Wagner's diving core also played a major role in the team's three wins as freshman Mallory Lee (Newark, CA / Moreau Catholic) finished second on both the one and three-meter boards, with scores of 185.20 and 169.10, respectively. Junior Josephine Ieraci (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) and freshman Marikate Villano (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) placed fourth and fifth in their one-meter and three-meter board events, picking up valuable points for the Green & White to cap the three victories.

The Green & White will be back in the pool next weekend when they travel across the outer bridge to New Jersey to take on Rutgers for a non-conference dual meet beginning at 4:00 p.m.
