Meet Results

New Britian, CT –
The Seahawks swimming and diving team missed out on their fifth dual meet victory of the season, falling to Central Connecticut State 190-101 in their final dual meet of the regular season on Saturday at the Jack Suydam Natatorium.

The Blue Devils opened up the day taking first and second place in the 200 medley relay, and never looked back, winning all 16 events and earning six second place finishes.

The freshman distance specialists Kristiana Kalibat (Princeton, NJ) and Alexandra Cooney (Port Jervis, NY) swam to second and third place points in the 1000 freestyle, with Kalibat finishing in 10:41.25 and Cooney ending in 10:47.23.

Freshman Sarah Menendez (Land O'Lakes, FL) swam well for the Green and White, taking second place in 50 and 100 yard freestyle events with classmate Kelsey Thomas (Hammonton, NJ) coming in third in both events. Menendez also earned a second place finish in the 100 butterfly, while Alanna Gibbons (Staten Island, NY) and Kristen Lee (Cherry Hill, NJ) took third and fourth place points, respectively.

The Seahawks mid-distance specialist, Meredith Ketchmark (Plainsboro, NJ), earned her squad second place points in 200 and 500 yard freestyle, as well as the 200 individual medley.

Junior backstrokers Jakki Guenther (South Hadley, MA) and Breanne Sweeney (Staten Island, NY) swam to second and third place points in the 200 backstroke, while Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT) and Lee earned silver and bronze in the 200 breaststroke.

Sophomore divers Josephine Ieraci (Staten Island, NY) and Kelly Edmonds (Baton Rouge, LA) also earned the Seahawks some points on the boards, taking a combined six points from the one and three meter events.

At the end of the day though, the eight-point loss gives the Wagner its sixth loss of the season, as the Seahawks finish the regular season 4-6, with a 3-2 record in the conference.

The team will have three weeks of last minute tuning before heading to Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the Northeast Conference championships to be held at MIT the weekend of February 17-19.
