Meet Results

Staten Island, NY –
The Seahawks swimming and diving team earned gold in nine of the days eleven events en route to a 129-74 win over Mount St. Mary's on senior day at the Spiro Sports Center Pool.

Wagner wasted no time taking first place in the days first five events, including three second place finishes, and three thirds.

Freshman Kristiana Kalibat (Princeton, NJ) did her part in her only event of the meet, earning a first place finish in the 1650 freestyle, the day's longest event, with a time of 18:02.73. Junior Mary Courtney Ryan (Staten Island, NY) swam to a third place finish in the same event.

Two events later, freshmen Kelsey Thomas (Hammonton, NY), junior Lauren Meyer (Hamden, CT), and senior Sarah Plucinsky (Allentown, PA) gave the Seahawks their first one-two-three sweep of the day, owning the 50 freestyle sprint event.

The Mountaineers got their first win in the sixth event, with Wagner's Alanna Gibbons (Staten Island, NY) missing out on the top spot by less than a second, coming in with a time of 1:01.29.

Sarah Menendez (Land O'Lakes, FL) got the Seahawks rolling again in the 100 freestyle, taking first place points with a time of 54.29, while Meyer earned third.

Wagner's lone backstroker for the day didn't disappoint, as junior Breanne Sweeney (Staten Island, NY) coasted into first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.94.

The freshmen distance specialist tandem of Meredith Ketchmark (Plainsboro, NJ) and Alexandra Cooney (Port Jervis, NY) earned the top two spots in the 500 freestyle event with Ketchmark's time of 5:11.01 taking the 11 points.

The last Seahawk sweep came in the 100 breaststroke, as junior Patricia Gavin (Staten Island, NY) took first in 1:11.88, with senior Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT) right on her heels in a time of 1:11.92, and freshman Kristen Lee (Cherry Hill, NJ) taking the bronze with a time of 1:12.57.

The Mountaineers edged out the home team in the days final event, but the points weren't enough to earn the victory, as the Seahawks 55-point advantage gave them the 129-74 win.

Prior to the start of the meet, Wagner head coach Mark Sowa acknowledged the hard work and dedication the teams three seniors – Brown, Plucinsky, and Caitlin Moore-Penaskovic (Dover, NH) – put into their career with the Green and White.

“This senior class has been through a great deal here at Wagner and I could not be more proud of how they performed today and what they have brought to our program over the last four years,” Sowa said. “They will be missed."

The Seahawks will hit the road early tomorrow morning for their final conference dual meet of the season, as they travel to Central Connecticut State for a 2:00 pm start.
