Staten Island, NY- The Wagner College softball team fell in both games of their Northeast Conference (NEC) twin bill this afternoon to Robert Morris University at Wagner's Lower Athletic Field. Wagner dropped the opener by a 5-1 count before succumbing in an extra-innings battle to the Colonials in the night cap, 8-7. With the losses the Seahawks fall to 13-30 on the season, 7-11 in conference play.
In the opener the Colonials held the Seahawks to just one run on route to a 5-1 victory.
RMU jumped out to a three run lead in the top of the first, scoring two runs on a Seahawk miscue and the third on a RBI double down the leftfield line.
The Colonials went to score one run in the third and fourth innings on a pair of singles before Wagner notched its lone run in the seventh on a RBI double.
The Green & White's run in the seventh came off junior
Emily Pierce's (Phoenix, AZ / Desert Vista) double to right field, plating freshman
Terah DeBinder (Cypress, CA / Cypress), who reached on a single to center field.

Judy Betz (Ashburn, VA / Broad Run) (6-12) took the loss, hurling a complete game while allowing just one earned run.
In the night cap, the Seahawks battled back-and-forth with the Colonials, falling in the tenth inning by an 8-7 decision.
RMU scattered three runs through the first three innings before the Seahawk tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third on double, a single, and a sacrifice fly.

Kate Eshelman (Reno, NV / McQueen) put the Green & White on the board with a double to right field, scoring freshman
Alyssa McCulloch (East Brunswick,NJ / East Brunswick ), who had reached on a single to shortstop. Freshman
Krysta Fauria (Yorba Linda, CA / Valencia) brought the Seahawks within one when she drove in Pierce, who reached on a single to shortstop, on a single to left field. DeBinder tied the game at 3-3 when she plated Eshelman on a sacrifice fly.
In the fourth inning, RMU tallied another run on single to center field, bringing the game to 4-3. This lead was short lived as freshman
Andrea Carini (Monroe Township, NJ / Monroe) tied the contest for the second time after scoring on a RMU error by the third baseman.
The Colonials retook the lead in the top of the fifth, plating a run on a single up the middle.
RMU held its 5-4 lead until the bottom of the sixth when Fauria drove in junior
Hailey Corthell (Reno, NV / Reno), who pinch ran for McCulloch, on a single up the middle.
The game remained deadlocked at 5-5 until the tenth inning, when RMU plated three runs on a Wagner miscue, a single, and a double. Wagner scored twice more in the bottom of the frame, plating two runners on a Colonial error by the pitcher. However, the Seahawks' rally fell short by one run giving RMU the 8-7 extra-inning victory.

Danielle Wagoner (Temecula, CA / Temecula Valley) took the loss through 3.0 innings of relief pitching while not allowing a single earned run.
Wagner returns to action Tuesday, May 4th when the Seahawks host Manhattan College in a doubleheader at 2:00PM.
