Seahawks Fall Twice on Day Two of College of Charleston Games

Junior Amanda Garcia
Mt. Pleasant, SC- The Wagner College women's softball team dropped a pair of contests on day two of the College of Charleston Games. In the first game of the day the Green & White were blanked by the College of Charleston 6-0 before falling to Akron University in game two 6-1.

In game one, the Seahawk were silenced by the Cougars' defense and the pitching of Stephanie Saylors. College of Charleston took an early lead, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the second. The Cougars capped off their scoring with another run in the sixth.

Splitting time in the circle for Wagner were senior Amanda Garcia (Fresno, CA / California State University, Fresno) and freshman Judy Betz (Ashburn, VA / Broad Run). Garcia took the loss after 3.0 innings of action, dropping her record to 0-1.

In game two, Wagner jumped out on top early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning on senior Kate Eshelman's (Reno, NV / McQueen) RBI single. However, this would be the Seahawks last scoring opportunity while Akron scattered runs through the third, fourth, and seventh innings.

Pitching for the Seahawks, Betz took her second loss of the season after striking out five batters and allowing five earned runs.

Wagner returns to action today at 11:00AM for the Seahawks' final outing at the College of Charleston Games.
