MEN'S RESULTS
LINCROFT, NJ - The Wagner College men's cross country team finished second on Saturday afternoon at the 6th Annual Monmouth Cross Country Kick-Off at Thompson Park. Opening up the 2009 season on at Monmouth University's home course, the Seahawks saw two of the top athletes,
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) and
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep), get off to a great start with two top-15 finishes.
Spector, a sophomore, made his triumph return to the sport after missing the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons due to injury. He finished in 19:34.66 for top Wagner honors and second in field of Division I athletes. Iannacone, a junior, was not far behind – finishing in 20:00.50 in 15th place.
Other impressive finishes include graduate student
Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan), who finished 21st overall in a field consisting of Division I and II athletes and
Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place), who rounded out the top-30 with a 20:34.76 mark.
The Seahawks finished second, behind Albany (21), with 67 points. Wagner College bested Monmouth on their home course – the Hawks finished with 68 total points in third place. Long Island University (105) and Seton Hall (119) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The Seahawks return to action on September 19th when they travel to the Quinnipiac Invite.
