Fairfield, CT – Sophomore
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) led a pack of five Seahawks to top 30 finishes at the 33rd Annual Father Leeber S.J. Invitational at Fairfield, Connecticut. Spector finished the 8k race first with a time of 25:39 – earning him fourth place in the event and Wagner's top time for the third straight event.
Also shining in the event was first year stand-out
Matt Driscoll (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston), who finished 15th overall with a time of 26 minutes flat. Teammate
Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) was not far behind Driscoll, finishing 22nd with mark of 26:28. The final two Seahawks to crack the top 30 were junior
Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) and sophomore
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep). The two finished 26:40 and 26:42 for 29th and 30th place respectively.
Rounding out the day for the Seahawks was senior
William Berger (Hopewell, VA/Sullivan C.C.), who finished in 28:14 and sophomore
Dylan Moulton (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy), who competed the race in 28:33.
Spector improved his 8k time from last week – shaving nearly 30 seconds off his finish. Driscoll trimmed 1:20 off his time, while Halling cut 40 seconds off his season-best.
The men finished fourth in a field consisting of nine teams. Collectively they scored 98 points.
The Seahawks will return to action on October 9th when they travel to the METS Championship in Van Cortlandt, NY.
