Long Branch, NJ – Alaina Alfano (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) received the NEC Most Valuable Performer (MVP) award along with Most Outstanding Field Performer honors for her extraordinary scoring efforts this past weekend at the Northeast Conference Championship held at Monmouth University. The senior Seahawk accounted for an extraordinary 66 percent of her team's point total.
Alfano claimed the women's lone individual title in the long jump with a leap of 5.81m. The mark was her second-best finish this season and tops among the 33 person field. From there, she claimed second-place honors in the triple jump. Alfano registered a 12.06m mark in the event, which improved on Wagner's previous school record of 12.03m set one year ago. She qualified for the ECACs in both events.
Also at the NECs, Alfano finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (14.63) and tied for fourth in the high jump (1.58m). She later joined freshman

Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug), and sophomore
Danielle Diodati (Haverhill, MA/Central Catholic) in the 4x100, where the team finished with a season-best time of 49.48 seconds. They placed sixth out of 10 teams.
At this point in her career, Alfano holds six of Wagner's all-time records. Her name appears in the record books as the leader in the 100m hurdles (14.49), 4x100 (48.59), 4x200 (1:43.94), SMR (4:16.5), long jump (6.07m), and triple jump (12.06m).
