Villane Breaks Wagner Record at NEC

Junior Matt Villane holds Wagner's 400 meter hurdle record with a time of 54.47 seconds

Junior Matt Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) improved on his Wagner College school record in the 400 meter hurdles. Villane, who placed fourth in the event, finished in 54.47 seconds, besting his previous mark of 54.52 set on April 11th.

Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/ Souhegan) matched Villane's impressive day with one of his own. In the 5000 meter run Halling placed ninth out of 27 runners with a time of 15:30.41. He added an eighth place finish out of 25 athletes in the 10,000 meter event with a season-best time of 32:32.43.

Junior Claudio Perfetto (Staten Island, NY/ Monsignor Farrell) added another season-best mark in the high jump with a 1.89m. His finish was nearly one meter higher than his previous best (1.78m) set on April 8th.

Wagner's 4x800 team qualified for the ECAC's with a sixth place finish. They registered a season-best 7:59.64 finish in the event.

Other bright spots included freshman Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep) and sophomore Derek Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place), who each finished well for the Seahawks in the 1500 meter run. Iannacone took eighth with a time of 4:07.83, while Rammelkamp finished ninth with a 4:08.31 mark.

Collectively, the men's team finished ninth of the 11 teams at the meet with 22 total points.
