Staten Island, NY- Prior to the first pitch of game one of a Northeast Conference (NEC) doubleheader vs. Quinnipiac, the Wagner College softball team will honor its four seniors for their dedication and performance throughout their careers.
The quartet of seniors to be honored are
Andrea Lazzari,
Cindy Bagnoli,
Jaclyn Vanore and
Kelly Moore.
Lazzari, a native of Reno NV, was named 2008 NEC PLAYER OF THE YEAR last year, while also being named Second-Team All-ECAC and Second-Team All-Mid-Atlantic as a junior. Her sophomore year, she earned a spot on the NEC all tournament team. As a freshman, she had the distinction of being named NEC Rookie of the year, First-Team All-NEC and to the NEC All-Tournament team. Currently she leads the team in batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, doubles, home runs, and total bases. She ranks second all-time in Wagner history with 27 home runs, RBI with 37 and hits with 215. Her career batting average of .362 is just two points shy of the top five in Wagner history
Bagnoli, a Tappan, NJ native, is currently second on the team with a sparkling .347 batting average, tied for third in sacrifice bunts with four, and fourth on the team in on base percentage at .388. One of the fastest Seahawks on the base paths, she has eight career stolen bases to her credit, including four this season. She also uses that speed to cover a vast amount of range in left field where she boasts a .927 fielding percentage, in addition to having thrown out five base runners.
Vanore hails from Palisades Park, NJ, and currently leads the team in triples with two, is second on the team in RBI with 19 and is also second on the team in walks with nine. In addition, she currently holds the third spot on the team in slugging percentage at .427, runs scored with 19, and stolen bases with six. She is also fourth on the team in hits with 27 and fifth in on base percentage at .373, total bases with 41 and sacrifice bunts with three. She is second in Seahawk history in career hit by pitches with 35.
Moore is a Staten Island, NY native whose four years of dedication has contributed to the success of the program. This senior has proven to be a role model for her teammates both on and off the field, from helping the pitching staff, to guiding teammates in the classroom, this student-athlete was one of the strong bonds that has held the team together.
