Kissimmee, FL – The Wagner College softball team dropped a pair of games this afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games. In the Seahawks' first game of the day, they were blanked by Saint Peter's College, 4-0, before dropping a 6-2 contest in their second game to Cornell University.
In game one, the Peacocks shut down the Seahawks bats in capturing the win. The first Peacock run came in the bottom of the third inning on a single to left field. The Peacocks notched two more runs in the fourth, plating runners on a two-run single to centerfield, extending their lead to 3-0. Saint Peter's finalized the victory in the sixth with a home run to left field.
Junior
Kate Eshelman (Reno, NV / McQueen) (1-6) took the loss through 6.0 innings of action. Eshelman struck out five while allowing three earned runs.
In the second game of the evening, the Seahawks fell to the Big Red by a score of 6-2. Cornell took the lead in the first inning, plating a run off a sacrifice fly to right field. In the top of the fourth the Big Red extending their lead to 5-0, scoring four runs off a Wagner miscue.
Wagner earned a run back in the bottom of the frame when Eshelman's RBI single to left center knocked in junior

In the bottom of the sixth, Wagner notched its second run on Eshelman's RBI double to left center, driving in senior
Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ/ Paramus Catholic) and cutting the lead to 5-2. Cornell scored another run in the seventh on an RBI single to right field, extending the lead to 6-2. In the bottom of the frame, Wagner was unable to produce another run as the Big Red garnered the 6-2 win.
In the circle, freshman
Kaelynn Armenta (Whittier, CA / Paul HS) dropped to 1-7 following her 7.0 innings of work. Armenta struck out four while allowing one earned run.
At the plate, Eshelman led the Seahawk offense, going 3-3 with two RBI's.
The Seahawk (4-14) will take a day off on Friday and return to action Saturday, March 21 when they compete in their final day of the Rebel games against Brown University at 11:00 am, followed by a 1:00 pm meeing with Hartford University.
