Hamden, CT - Sophomore
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) put forth his second consecutive all-Northeast Conference (NEC) performance, crossing the finish line in 26:44.4 to take eighth place at the NEC Championships held at Quinnipiac University's 8K course. The Seahawks finished in fifth place overall with three top-25 racers.
For the fifth consecutive time this season, Spector paced the Seahawks with his team-best finish. His performance earned him the honor of being Wagner's lone all-conference representative for the second year in a row. Spector won the honor last season in with a sixth place finish (27:05) at Holmdel Park. For his career, he has provided a team-best finish in 14 of Wagner's last 15 races.
Also contributing top-25 finishes were sophomore
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep) and graduate student
Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan). Iannacone took 17th place with a time of 27:19.5, while Halling was not far behind in 27th place at 27:27.4.
Also registering points for the Seahawks were freshman
Matt Driscoll (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston) and junior
Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place). Driscoll finished in 55th place at 28:17.2. Rammelkamp contributed a 63rd place finish at 28:31.2.
The Seahawks finished in fifth place out of 12 teams with 154 total points. Central Connecticut State University won the event with 46 total points. Long Island University's freshman Rogers Kipruto finished first overall with a time of 25:55.9.
