Staten Island, NY- The Wagner College swim team lost its first meet of the season, dropping a non-conference decision to the Wildcats of the University of New Hampshire this afternoon 121-77.
Senior co-captain
Jessica Hart (Montreal, Canada / Northwest) paced the Seahawks with a first place-finish in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 58.82. Hart also garnered a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.33.
The Seahawks also swam to first-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.37) by junior
Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT / Ennco Fermi High) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.35). Wagner's 200 freestyle relay team consisted of sophomore
Jakki Guenther (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS), junior
Sarah Plucinsky (Allentown, PA / Allentown Central Catholic), Brown, and Hart.
The Green & White notched second-place finishes in senior co-captain
Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman's (Chesire, CT / Chesire) performance in the 500 freestyle (5:33.18), sophomore Patrica Gavin's (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Tech) effort in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.99), and the Seahawks 200 medley relay team (1:55.22).
The Seahawks also had six third-place finishes in today's meet.
Wagner returns to action Friday, October 30th when the Seahawks travel to New Rochelle, NY to face Iona at 4:00 PM.
