Fairfield, CT – The Wagner men's cross country team bounced back after a disappointing outing at last week's Monmouth Invitational with a fourth place finish at the 32nd Annual Father Leeber S.J. Invitational held by Fairfield University.
Freshman
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) led the Green & White charge with a time of 26:25, good for 15th on the 8K course. Following right behind were brothers
Derek and
Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place). The Rammelkamp duo clocked in at near identical times with Derek at 26:33 and Thomas at 26:41. T. Rammelkamp's time set a personal record for an 8K course.
Not to be outdone, senior
Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) set his own personal record with a 26th place finish in 26:55. His previous collegiate best came in 2006 where he ran 27:38 at the METS Championships.
Rounding out the Seahawk scorers were junior
James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) and graduate student
Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) who each clocked in respective times of 27:18 and 27:26.
The Green & White will take upcoming weekend off and will return to the course on October 10 to take on the competition of the METS Championships at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, NY.
