Freshman Katja Claesson of the Wagner women's swimming & diving team is the Walsh Electrical Contracting Female Student-Athletes of the Month for January. She earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Swimmer of the Week accolades following her performance in the Seahawks' victories over New York University (1/17), as well as their 167-133 and the University of Rhode Island (1/18). Claesson tallied crucial points for the Green & White in both meets while notching two individual first-place finishes in the NYU meet and the pool record for the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.06). Additionally, Claesson helped her team to a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay event. Furthermore, she garnered one first-place finish and one third-place finish in Wagner's first-ever defeat of URI.
