Senior midfielder Colin O’Rourke (Worcester, MA/ St. John’s Shrewsbury) turned in the highlight of the season for the Wagner men’s lacrosse team when he poured in a school-record seven goals on April 20 at Quinnipiac and added goals vs. Manhattan (4/2), Bryant (4/13) and Mount St. Mary’s (4/27). For the month, O’Rourke paced the Seahawks in goals (10), assists (5) and points (15). Following the season, O’Rourke was named Second-Team All-NEC for the second consecutive year in a vote of the league’s NEC head coaches. For the season, this talented and tough midfielder led Wagner in goals (25), assists (10), and points (35) and was also tied for second on the team in draw controls (14) and third in ground balls (28). The 25 goals scored by O’Rourke tied the school single-season record while his 35 points rank second on the all-time Seahawk single-season list. A model of consistency, O’Rourke scored at least one point in all 13 games this season, two or more points in nine games and at least three points in five different contests. O’Rourke wound up his ultra-productive career ranked No. 1 in school history in points (108) and goals (82) while placing third in assists (26). “Colin has been a tremendous ambassador all four of his years here at Wagner,” said Wagner second-year head coach Matt Poskay. "In my two years, he’s done it all. An extremely productive player on the field, he was a two-time captain and a true class act. Colin O’Rourke is the epitome of a student-athlete.”
