Le'la Allen, a 5-4 forward from Piscataway, NJ, delivered the game-winning strike in the 78th minute off a cross from freshman Gabby Cipriano in propelling Wagner to its first victory of the 2018 season, a momentous 1-0 win at Rhode Island on August 30 in Kingston, RI. Allen's second collegiate goal, which came in her first start of the season, was an historic one as it proved to be the winning score in the Seahawks' first-ever victory over an Atlantic 10 program after 19 tries. With the win, the Green & White now stand at 1-17-1 all-time against the A-10. In three games for the month, Allen logged 186 minutes of playing time, headlined by a route-going 90-minute effort vs. URI.
