Charlton Boyd continues to cement his name in Wagner tennis lure. For the month of October, the fourth-year senior went 7-2 in singles action, while posting a 6-1 mark in doubles play, a level of play that earned him
NEC Men's Tennis Player of the Month honors. Boyd won his final dual match of the fall campaign, besting Matt Bellino of Siena, 6-1, giving him a program-best 59 career singles victories. In the singles "C" bracket of the Fordham University Four-In-The-Fall (October 14-15), which included Queens College and Fairleigh Dickinson, Boyd posted an 8-6 victory over FDU's Miki Nobuzawa in the quarterfinals before outlasting Queens' Roman Laga, 6-2, 1-6, 10-7 to advance to the championship round. In the finale of the "C" bracket, he was pitted up against fellow NEC-member, Maciej Autuch of FDU. After taking the first set 6-1, Boyd dropped the second set, 2-6, setting up a decisive third set, in which would go down to the wire. In the end, Boyd captured his second singles tournament title of the season, besting Autuch, 11-9. In doubles play, Boyd teamed with
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA/Buchanan) in posting a perfect 6-0 mark for the month.
