STATEN ISLAND, N.Y – The Wagner women's golf team enters the 2026–27 campaign looking to build on a competitive season.
During the 2025–26 season, the Seahawks secured team victories at the Tri-Match against La Salle and Saint Joseph's, the Tri-Match against Hofstra and Iona, and the Saint Joseph's Tri-Match.
The Green & White will see a shift in leadership this fall as seniors
Rileigh Leighton,
Lillian McNally,
Josephine Sawyer, and
Emma Shelby graduated after providing strong contributions throughout their careers.
The returning core of junior
Marifer Calleja Pineda alongside sophomores
Lani Park and
Palwasha Ali will form the core of the lineup. Calleja Pineda is expected to be a consistent scorer after leading the Seahawks across multiple events last season, while Ali and Park will bring proven tournament scoring.
Calleja Pineda returns after pacing Wagner at last year's Bucknell Invitational with a three-round total of 233 (+23), including a final-round 77 (+7), and placing inside the top 5 at the Autumn Harvest with a 218 (+5) total highlighted by a second-round 69 (-2). Ali impressed during her freshman campaign as the team's second-best scorer at Bucknell with a 239 (+23) and carded a 236 (+23) at the Autumn Harvest. Park delivered a steady rookie season, posting a 234 (+21) at the Autumn Harvest and a 248 (+38) at Bucknell, before capping her year with a 10th-place finish at the NEC Championship.
The Seahawks will test themselves against regional competition throughout the fall campaign, featuring return trips to overlapping events from last year. Wagner will return to Bucknell Golf Club for the Bucknell Invitational and Architects Golf Club for the Autumn Harvest, while also competing at the Quinnipiac Classic at The Farms Golf Club and concluding the fall at the Lehigh Invitational at Trump National Golf Club.
With the combination of experienced returners and developing underclassmen, Wagner's focus will be on consistency in multi-round invitational play, under the guidance of the new director of golf
Jim Engles and women's golf graduate assistant coach
Pedro Marchioni.
The Green & White are set to begin their campaign at the Bucknell Invitational from September 11 to September 13 at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
