WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. — Wagner was on the road this weekend, taking part in the Monmouth Season Opener at Kessler Stadium.
Senior Christopher Milillo won the meet's hammer throw, setting a new program record with a 62.07m throw in Friday's field events. His throw outpaced second-place Christian Saparata by almost ten meters. This breaks the record previously set by Lufti Pocesta at the 2021 NEC Outdoor Championships, a 60.71m throw.
Senior Julio Martinez logged a 6.01m long jump on Saturday, finishing eighth. In the 400m dash, sophomore David Akinola ran a 54.36-second time. Running the 800m, freshman James Torres ran a 2:02.45 time, joined by senior Dante Rodney, who finished in 2:03.57. Freshman Chase Rogers, Wagner's third runner in the event, clocked in at 2:05.00. Junior Khalil Wason logged a 23.73-second 200m, followed just behind by senior Omar Abdelaziz, who finished in 23.99 seconds. Freshman Nnamdi Smith ran a 24.25 time.
Next up, the Seahawks will head to William and Mary's Colonial Relays, beginning Friday, April 3. Held at Zable Stadium, the meet will wrap up on Saturday, April 4.
