STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Wagner competed in its first meet of the 2026 outdoor season, sending a contingent of athletes to Stony Brook's Snowflake Classic to get an early start.

Sophomore Ariel Kovach finished second in the 100m hurdles, logging a 16.61-second time from lane two. A newcomer for the Seahawks, sophomore Jennifer Greenfield won her heat the 400m dash with a 1:14.07 time.

Wagner was well-represented in the women's 3,000m run, with freshmen Rehanna Syed, Jaslene Merizalde and Jessica Diaz clocking in at 10:57.01, 11:45.90 and 13:17.76, respectively, to each finish in the top 15. Senior Angel Okafor finished second in the 400m hurdles with a 1:16.35 time.

Freshman James Torres, making his collegiate debut, finished sixth in the mile with a 5:00.96 time. A hurdler who continues to build in his rookie season, freshman Ersell McCullen won the 110m hurdles with a 18.54-second time in lane three. In the 400m hurdles, freshman Christian Mullins ran a 1:09.80 time to finish first.

In the 400m, freshmen Christopher Maruyama and Nnamdi Smith finished third and fourth in heat three with times of 55.71 and 58.08, respectively. Sophomore Christopher Hall won his heat in the 100m dash with an 11.48 time, joined by Smith in second, who ran a 12.77 time in his second event of the meet. Hall finished third and Smith finished seventh in the combined results. Junior Jonathan Carman clocked in at 2:27.57 in the 800m run.

Next up, the Seahawks head to the Fred Hardy Invitational on Friday, March 20, hosted by Richmond at Robbins Stadium.
