BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Wagner College men's lacrosse freshman attacker Dylan Popehn has been named the NEC Rookie of the Week following a three-goal week at Monmouth and UMass Lowell, announced by the conference on Monday.
Last week against the Hawks and River Hawks, Popehn scored three goals, adding one assist, two ground balls, and caused one turnover. Popehn scored two goals at Monmouth before finding the back of the net for the sixth time this season at UMass Lowell.
On the year, the Andover, Minnesota has scored six goals to go along with one assist, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Currently, Popehn sits in a tie for sixth in NEC in goals scored with six.
Popehn's six goals is tied for the lead on the Seahawks' roster with senior captain Jake Mitchell.
Popehn is the first Seahawk to win the NEC's Rookie of the Week nod since Ethan Sieb received the distinction back on Feb. 22, 2022.
Next up, Popehn and the rest of the Seahawks travel to CAA member Hampton for an 11 a.m. start on Saturday, Feb, 28 at Armstrong Stadium.
