Bridgeport, Pa. — Junior
Smith Connors of the Wagner College men's water polo team was named the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced
on Tuesday.
The junior captain and Brisbane, Australia native was a key offensive player for the Seahawks in their home opener, scoring six goals to help power Wagner to a 16-13 victory over Iona at the Spiro Sports Center.
Connors led the Green & White offense, burying all six goals during the first three periods to help Wagner keep up offensive momentum.
This marks the latest MAWPC accolade for Connors, who earned All-MAWPC Honorable Mention recognition in 2025 alongside two MAWPC Player of the Week Honor Roll selections and a pair of MAWPC Rookie of the Week honors during his 2024 freshman campaign.
The junior captain and attacker also earned Player of the Week Honor Roll following a dominant offensive display at the Rare Air Challenge, where he compiled 16 goals, 15 shots, five assists, and three steals over four games at the U.S. Air Force Academy
from September 26 to September 27.
Wagner will be back in action to take on Fordham on Friday, Oct. 9, with sprint-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT.
