BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Junior Magui Calvo-Jorge was selected NEC Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Calvo-Jorge won the 800m run at the Dr. Sander Scorcher on Friday, Jan. 23 with a 2:15.73 time to lead a field of 44 runners. Her time currently leads the NEC for the 2025-2026 season.
This is Calvo-Jorge's first NEC award for the regular season since earning Rookie of the Week on January 16, 2024 for her performances in the 4x400 relay and 800m at the Penn Select 10 meet. Last indoor season, she was named All-NEC second team for the distance medley relay after winning silver.
Alongside Calvo-Jorge, graduate Florian Hinry and sophomore Christine Manneh were named NEC Prime Performers for their weekend performances at the Dr. Sander Scorcher. Hinry competed in the mile invitational, where he logged a 4:11.41 time, currently the second-fastest in the NEC this season. Manneh finished seventh in the seeded 60m final with a 7.78-second time after finishing eighth in the preliminary. She also ran a 25.68-second 200m dash.
Next up, the Seahawks will split their weekend between the John Thomas Terrier Classic and the Mets Indoor Championships. Held at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center, the John Thomas Terrier Classic will be held on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31, with the women competing on Friday and the men on Saturday. Back on Staten Island, the Mets Indoor Championships will be held on Friday, Jan. 30.
